Shopify Sidekick and the MCP server

Ask Shopify Sidekick about your Whittle SEO audit, or connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to Whittle's MCP server to read your audit and make fixes with undo.

In short: Shopify Sidekick can read your Whittle SEO summary, your lowest-scoring pages and your broken links. And with a key from Settings, your own AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor) can connect to Whittle's MCP server to read your audit and make fixes, each one recorded on Changes with an undo.

Shopify Sidekick

Ask Sidekick in your Shopify admin about your store's SEO, and it can answer from Whittle:

  • Your SEO summary: the overall score and grade, the average score of products, collections, pages and blog posts, and the most common problems.
  • Your weakest pages: products, collections, pages or posts with their score and the checks they fail, lowest first, filtered by score band or title words.
  • Broken links: the broken links inside your pages with the suggested fix, and how many missing pages visitors hit.

Every answer links to the page in Whittle, where you make the fix with undo. Sidekick reads; it doesn't change your store through Whittle.

Whittle's MCP server

MCP is a standard way for AI assistants to use other apps' tools. Through Whittle's, your assistant can:

  • read your SEO summary, list pages by score, and open one page with its checks and photos
  • change a page's search title and meta description
  • set alt text on a page's photos
  • set the FAQs on a product, collection, page or post (shown on your store on paid plans)
  • list broken links
  • list recent changes and undo any of them

Changes made through MCP go live right away, not into Fix my store for review, and every one lands on Changes with an undo.

Connect your assistant

  1. In Settings, Connect your AI assistant, give the key a name and click Create a key.
  2. Copy it now. Whittle only shows it once. Anyone with the key can change your store's SEO, so keep it private.
  3. In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the server address shown in Settings, and give it the key as a Bearer token.
  4. In Claude Code, Cursor and other apps that read an MCP config file, paste the config Whittle shows.
  5. Ask things like which products score lowest, or to write better search listings for them.

Settings lists every key with when it was created and last used. Remove a key to cut off that assistant.
