Packtally docs
Suppliers and documents
Keep supplier certificates and spec sheets next to each packaging item in Packtally, send suppliers a link to fill in, and email one compliance request.
In short: On the Exempt plan and up, Set up, Documents keeps each supplier's certificate, spec sheet or test report next to the packaging it proves, encrypted. You can also send a supplier a link to fill in weights, materials and certificates themselves. Every locked filing lists your documents, so years from now you can show where a weight or a claim came from.
Upload a document
- PDF, image, CSV, Excel or Word, up to 10 MB each. Files are encrypted before they're saved.
- Say what it is: a Toxics in Packaging certificate, spec sheet, invoice or weight proof, test report, PFAS or Prop 65 statement, or other.
- Tie it to a packaging item, or keep it as a general document. A certificate marks the item as having one on file, which clears that item on the Toxics in Packaging check.
- Add a note, and download or delete it any time.
The screen lists your packaging items with the documents on each, so you can see which items have a certificate, which are only marked as on file with no upload, and which have none.
Ask a supplier to fill it in
- Pick their items from your library and name the supplier. Add their email if you'd like to send it from your own mail.
- Choose how long the link works: 2 weeks, 30 days or 90 days.
- Send the link. It's shown once; copy it or open it in an email. Your supplier needs no login.
- Your supplier answers for each item: weight of one in grams, main material, plastic inside it (tape, window, coating), post-consumer recycled content and its proof, and a certificate of compliance or spec sheet (PDF or image, up to 10 MB). They can also confirm the item meets Toxics in Packaging limits and has no intentionally added PFAS where a state bans it.
- Review and accept. Answers wait in "Supplier answers to review" next to your current figures. Nothing changes in your library until you accept. Accepting saves the supplier's figures to the item as a confirmed supplier spec and files any certificate they uploaded with it. Dismissing deletes the upload.
"Links you've sent" shows each link's items, when it expires and whether it's been opened. Turn one off at any time.
One email to all your suppliers
On Compliance, download a ready-to-send request addressed from your company. It asks each supplier for a signed Toxics in Packaging certificate of compliance, a PFAS statement, any Prop 65 listed chemicals above safe harbor levels, and the material and resin behind any recyclable claim, item by item. The paperwork comes back to you instead of you chasing it.
Where documents go
- Every locked filing lists the documents behind it.
- Download everything on File includes your supplier documents with your locked filings.
- If you uninstall, Packtally emails the owner an archive of locked filings and the documents that fit, because Shopify has apps erase a store's data 48 hours after uninstall. See data and privacy.
