Plans and billing
Packtally plans and prices: Free, Exempt at $190 a year or $19 a month, Report at $1,580 a year and Pro at $3,980 a year, the founding offer, the trial and billing.
In short: Packtally has a free plan and three paid plans: Exempt at $190 a year or $19 a month, Report at $1,580 a year and Pro at $3,980 a year. Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial and are billed through Shopify, on your Shopify invoice, and you can cancel anytime.

Which plan you need
The Plans screen recommends one from your own states. If you owe a report anywhere, it's Report, which covers every state in one filing season. If you look exempt but California only counts the exemption once it's filed, it's Exempt, which keeps the proof and the renewal dates. If you're working on a past data year, it's Pro, which includes prior-year reports for corrections. If you don't owe anything yet, Free keeps watching your orders and tells you if that changes.
Why filing plans are yearly
Report and Pro are sold yearly; Exempt can be paid monthly or yearly. Reports are due once a year, but the work isn't. Packtally keeps going between filings:
- Orders counted all year, with an alert the day you cross a state's line
- Reminders 30 and 7 days before every deadline, and when CAA's portal opens
- Invoices in January and July, renewals, rate updates in October
- The 60-day window to correct a filed report, with change alerts
How the trial works
- Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial, once per store.
- During the trial you can set everything up and see where you owe, your fees and every check. State totals show rounded, and bonus and forecast values show with their worksheets held.

Try every deliverable with sample data
While a store has only the made-up sample brand loaded (no real orders, linked stores or other sales), every screen and file is unlocked, so you can see the workbook, the portal sheet and the locks before you pay. Anyone can also download a sample filing workbook from Reports.
Prior data years
Reports, locks and the portal sheet for a data year before the current one (2026 data, due May 31, 2027) come with Pro.
Changing plans
Change plans any time from the Plans page. Billing runs through your Shopify invoice. Prices are in USD, and Shopify adds any sales tax. Changing plans is prorated by Shopify. Your locked filings stay in your archive on every plan, including Free.
