Deadlines, alerts and help

Packtally's deadline list and calendar file, six email alerts for state lines, changes after you lock, reminders, portal opening and renewals, plus in-app help.

In short: Deadlines lists every date that matters for your store, in order, with a calendar file you add in one click. Email alerts tell you when something changes, at most once a day. Help has a guide for each state, common questions and a form that reaches a person.

Deadlines

Dates are marked as confirmed when they come from the law or the program, or expected when they follow last year's cycle, and the ones that apply to you are marked. The list includes:

  • packaging EPR reports for the data year, and when CAA's reporting portal is expected to open,
  • when rates for the data year are published, and when the first invoices are expected,
  • filing and renewing California's small producer exemption,
  • California's recyclable claims law, the Prop 65 short-form change, California textile EPR registration and enforcement, the Minnesota PFAS report, and PFAS bans as they start,
  • due dates from your compliance checks.

Add to my calendar downloads a calendar file (.ics) with the dates that apply to you, ready to import into your calendar.

Email alerts

Turn each alert on or off in Set up, Company, Email alerts:

  • when you cross a state's line or need to file an exemption,
  • when you get close to a state's line,
  • when numbers change after you lock or submit,
  • 30 and 7 days before your deadlines,
  • when CAA's reporting portal opens,
  • before an exemption needs renewing.

Alerts go to the addresses you list, separated by commas, or to the store owner's email if you leave it blank. You get at most one email a day, and only when something changes. Send a test to check it arrives.

Help and support

  • State guides: the rules Packtally applies in each state: who you report to, who's exempt, who reports the shipping box, the money, the due date and the sources.
  • Common questions: filing, which state packaging goes to, 3PLs, resold brands, bundles, Amazon and wholesale, how accurate weights need to be, corrections, the trial and your data, each with a link to the screen that handles it.
  • Ask us: tell us the screen and what you expected to see, and we reply by email. We read every request. Pro requests are answered first, the same business day (Central time). Don't include passwords or tax IDs.

You can also email packtally@musiccitylabs.co. Packtally explains how it applies each law but can't give legal advice; for a legal question about your business, ask your counsel.
