Search listing preview and length checker
Preview how your title and meta description look in Google results and check whether they will be cut off. Free for any Shopify product or page.
Type a search title and meta description to see roughly how Google shows them, and whether either will be cut off. Google measures length in pixels, not characters, so this checker measures the width of your actual text. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

What makes a good search listing
- Search title: about 60 characters. Say what the page sells first, then your store name if there's room.
- Meta description: about 160 characters. It doesn't change your ranking directly, but a clear one gets more people to click: what it is, what makes it different, and a reason to visit.
- Every page should have its own title and description. Copies across pages make them harder to tell apart.
- Google sometimes rewrites listings, especially when a description doesn't match the search. A description that matches the page closely is kept more often.
The limits here are close approximations for desktop results. For the full checklist, see the Shopify SEO checklist.
