SEO and AI search on Shopify
Answered by Whittle, the SEO super app. In Shopify App Store review.
How do I edit meta titles and descriptions on Shopify?
Each product, collection, page and post has a Search engine listing section in the Shopify admin, edited one page at a time. Whittle finds missing, cut off and duplicate listings across the store, writes new ones with AI and shows a Google preview before anything goes live. See Whittle
How do I add alt text to product images on Shopify?
In Shopify you open each image and type the alt text by hand. Whittle writes alt text from what's actually in each photo, across your whole Files library, and every change can be undone. See Whittle
How do I set up 301 redirects on Shopify?
Shopify keeps redirects under Online Store, Navigation, URL Redirects, added one by one or by CSV. Whittle lets you add, search, import up to 5,000 rows and export redirects, adds them automatically when an address changes, and logs every change so it can be undone. See Whittle
How do I find broken links on my Shopify store?
Shopify has no broken link report. Whittle checks the links in your descriptions, pages and posts, logs the missing pages real visitors hit, and fixes each one with a redirect or a corrected link. See Whittle
How do I add FAQ schema to Shopify product pages?
Most themes don't output FAQ markup, so it usually means custom code. Whittle writes product FAQs with AI and shows them on the page with FAQ markup through its theme app embed, with no code, on paid plans. See Whittle
How do I add structured data to Shopify?
Themes usually include some product markup and little else. Whittle's theme embed adds breadcrumb, organization, blog post, video, how-to, recipe, local business and shipping markup, and skips any type your theme already has. See Whittle
How do I get review stars in Google for my Shopify store?
Google shows stars when a product's markup includes a rating, which many themes leave out. Whittle reads the ratings your review app saves in Shopify and adds them to your product markup. See Whittle
How do I compress images on Shopify?
Shopify resizes images for your theme but keeps the original file you uploaded. Whittle compresses heavy originals in their own format, keeps a copy of each, and lets you undo any compression. See Whittle

Shopify's admin has no switch for it. Whittle adds a Hide from Google button to every product, collection, page and post, which also takes the page out of your sitemap. See Whittle

Normally you edit theme.liquid to add a robots tag. Whittle does it with one switch, with others for search results, page 2 and later, and vendor pages. See Whittle

A custom llms.txt on Shopify needs a theme template. Whittle gives you the template to paste once, then keeps your notes and catalog lists in it up to date. See Whittle
How do I know if ChatGPT recommends my Shopify store?
The only way is to ask AI assistants the questions your shoppers ask and watch who they name. Whittle does this every week across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity on paid plans, with a free test on the Free plan, and alerts you when it changes. See Whittle
How do I get my products into ChatGPT shopping from Shopify?
AI shopping results skip products with no photo, a $0 price, or that are hidden from search. Whittle lists those products and scores every product's readiness: description, FAQs, photos, category, brand and barcodes. See Whittle
How do I translate SEO titles and meta descriptions on Shopify?
Shopify stores a translation for each language you add, usually filled in with a translation app. Whittle scores your listing in each language and writes the missing or outdated ones with AI, phrased the way people search there. See Whittle

Shopify has no tool that compares posts. Whittle groups posts that compete for the same searches, picks the one to keep, and on paid plans redirects and hides the rest in batches you can undo. See Whittle
How do I add local business schema to Shopify?
This usually means custom JSON-LD in your theme. Whittle marks up the address, phone and hours you enter, for up to 20 shop locations. See Whittle

Answered by Packtally, the compliance super app. In Shopify App Store review.

Fees are usually cents per pound by material, from published schedules, with a flat fee option for small volumes. Packtally estimates them from your packaging and labels them estimates. See Packtally

Shipping and logistics on Shopify
Answered by Roadcase, the logistics super app. In Shopify App Store review.
How do I tell customers their order is delayed on Shopify?
Shopify's notifications cover shipping and tracking updates, but none goes out when a package is late or stuck. Roadcase spots the delay from tracking and writes the shopper an email from your store, sent after you approve it or automatically. See Roadcase

Shopify shows tracking order by order. Roadcase checks every package every 30 minutes and lists the stuck, late and probably lost ones on one page. See Roadcase

Most themes don't show an arrival date, so stores add an app block. Roadcase shows real dates with an order-within countdown, worked out from how fast your packages actually arrive. See Roadcase

Shopify has no built-in holiday cutoff. Roadcase works out the last day to order for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day or your own event, and shows it on product pages. See Roadcase

Shopify shows label costs and shipping charged, but not side by side. Roadcase's leak finder compares label cost with what shoppers paid, by carrier and service, over 90 days. See Roadcase

How do I file a claim for a lost package from my Shopify store?
Claims go to the carrier, or to the insurer if you bought coverage. On paid plans Roadcase lists packages that look lost, copies the claim details, opens the carrier's claim page and tracks each claim until it's paid. See Roadcase

Start by asking the carrier where it was scanned as delivered. On Roadcase's tracking page the shopper can report it, which opens a claim, emails you and writes the carrier message for you. See Roadcase

Shopify prints a packing slip per order. Roadcase's Ship today page adds up every item due today across all orders, with photos, a print button and packed checkboxes. See Roadcase

Shopify can send its own notifications in a customer's language once you translate them. Roadcase sends its default problem emails in the language the shopper checked out in, from 20 languages. See Roadcase
Shopify POS on Shopify
Answered by Keyholder, the Shopify POS super app. In development.
Does Shopify POS have layaway?
Not built in, as of November 2026, so shops track layaway on paper or with a small app. Keyholder is being built to handle holds, layaway and deposits at the register. See Keyholder
Is there a time clock in Shopify POS?
Not as of November 2026; clocking in happens on paper or in a separate app. Keyholder is being built with a PIN time clock on the register. See Keyholder
How do I track sales commissions on Shopify POS?
Shopify POS credits sales to staff but doesn't work out commissions. Keyholder is being built to calculate commissions and goals from each person's sales and refunds. See Keyholder
How do I manage alterations or repairs in Shopify POS?
Shopify POS has no work orders, so most shops use paper tickets. Keyholder is being built to keep the ticket, the customer's details and the pickup date with the sale. See Keyholder
Why does Shopify POS charge the wrong sales tax at a market or pop-up?
Shopify POS charges tax from the saved address of the location, not where the device is. Keyholder is being built to set the event location to the venue's address so the venue's rate applies. See Keyholder
Can customers round up for charity on Shopify POS?
There's no round-up button built in. Keyholder is being built with one: staff tap a tile at checkout and the donation rings up as a non-taxable line. See Keyholder
Trade-ins and resale on Shopify
Answered by Reissue, the trade-in super app. In development.
How do I take trade-ins in Shopify POS?
Shopify POS has no trade-in flow, so shops usually ring trade-ins up as a discount. Reissue adds a Trade-ins tile that prices the item, records it and pays the credit to the customer on the sale. See Reissue
How do I give store credit for a trade-in on Shopify?
Shopify's native store credit lives on customer accounts and can be added by hand. Reissue adds it automatically when a trade-in is paid, and keeps a record of every credit. See Reissue
How do I charge sales tax only on the difference after a trade-in in Tennessee?
Store credit counts as a payment, so Shopify taxes the full price. Reissue's POS tile puts like-kind credit on the matching cart line as a trade-in, so tax applies to the difference. See Reissue
How do I add a trade-in form to my Shopify store?
Themes don't include one. Reissue adds a step-by-step trade-in page inside your theme, plus blocks for product pages, a floating button and a banner. See Reissue
How do I send a prepaid shipping label for a trade-in?
Shopify's labels are built for shipping orders, not buying from customers. Reissue buys a prepaid return label when you approve, charges postage only after the first scan, and caps the month. See Reissue
How do I let customers trade in something they bought from my store?
Customers' orders sit in their Shopify account. Reissue adds Trade it in to each order and prices the item from what they paid. See Reissue
How do I sell on consignment with Shopify?
Shopify sells consigned items as ordinary products, with no splits or payouts. Reissue records the agreement and split, catches each sale, holds the share through returns and pays the consignor. See Reissue
How do I price trade-ins by condition?
Shopify stores sale prices, not buy prices. Reissue's offer rules take a percent of the price paid, today's price or a fixed amount for each grade, by product, brand, type or tag. See Reissue
How do I make offers on vintage from photos?
Shopify has no way to send a customer an offer. In Reissue's staff priced mode, shoppers send photos and a hoped-for price, and you email an offer they accept online. See Reissue
How do I list traded-in items as pre-owned products?
Each used piece is a one-off product with a quantity of 1. Reissue creates the draft in one click with the condition, SKU, cost and stock at your location. See Reissue
How do I print barcode price tags for used items?
One-off used items need their own tags to scan at checkout. Reissue prints barcoded tags of each listing's SKU on Avery 5160 sheets. See Reissue
How do I hold used items before resale for a city secondhand rule?
Shopify has no hold period, but draft products aren't for sale. With Reissue's Nashville rule, listings stay in draft until the 15-day hold ends. See Reissue
How do I keep a secondhand register on Shopify?
Shopify records customers, not the people you buy from. Reissue keeps an encrypted, printable register with a CSV download, and a police report CSV on Pro. See Reissue
How do I take trade-in drop-offs by appointment?
Shopify has no booking step for items coming in. Reissue lets shoppers pick a drop-off day and get a QR pass that staff scan at the register. See Reissue
How do I track the trade-in store credit I still owe?
Shopify shows each customer's balance, not your total owed. Reissue reports credit issued, spent and still owed, and exports monthly journal entries on Pro. See Reissue
